PROFESSIONAL DAYS OF THE FESTIVAL D’AIX-EN-PROVENCE — 11 TO 14 JULY 2023
For its 2023 edition, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence pursues its role as a gathering place for professionals in the world of music and opera. Three days of panel discussions and meetings will take place on 11, 13 and 14 July to foster inter-professional exchange and collaboration.
ACCORD MAJEUR — 11 JULY
For this 11th edition of Rencontres Nationales, organised in partnership with the Festival, members of ACCORD MAJEUR will be exploring the topic ‘Music and Public Service: What Are the Economics?’
OPERA MAKERS — 13 AND 14 JULY
The Académie du Festival d’Aix is organising three OPERA MAKERS sessions, during which international multidisciplinary artists will be able to exchange with professionals in the sector. These sessions are designed to contribute — actively and creatively — to changes in the world of opera and the performing arts. They are being held at the heart of the Festival, and will thus benefit from the innovative energy and vitality provided by the Académie’s residencies, which unite artist-creators and performers through a wide variety of aesthetics.
OPERA PROJECTS OPEN TO CO-PRODUCTIONS
THURSDAY 13 JULY, 3–5:30 P.M. – Hôtel Maynier d’Oppède
Eight opera or musical-theatre projects will be presented by their creative teams. The session, which focuses on innovative potential co-productions, is aimed at institutions, co-producers, distributors, and organisations that provide advice and support for such projects. Each team will offer a 10-minute presentation, followed by a 5-minute Question and Answer period. A global ‘project bible’ will be distributed to participants on the day of the presentations.
This first session will conclude with a friendly cocktail reception.

SPEED-DATING CAFÉ
FRIDAY 14 JULY, 10–11 A.M. – Hôtel Maynier d’Oppède
In a lively face-to-face format, artists and professionals are invited to engage in short, “speed dating”-like exchanges. These quick encounters offer a chance to make a friendly first contact, with the hope of leading to further discussions down the line.
THEMATIC ROUNDTABLES
FRIDAY 14 JULY, 11:15 A.M.–1 P.M. – Hôtel Maynier d’Oppède
During these four roundtable discussions, artists and professionals from the sector of opera and musical theatre will discuss themes related to the aspirations and challenges that drive creativity in the performing arts today. Panellists will be invited to offer their insights and to discuss their needs and desires for this evolving industry.
Specific discussion topics to be announced at a later date.
This second Opera Makers session will end with a friendly luncheon.
