Call for scores for string quartets
Call for scores open to any early career composer
As part of the Chamber music residency—a program which welcomes the most promising string quartets, under the supervision of internationally renowned artists—the Académie du Festival d’Aix is launching, a call for scores by young composers. This initiative reinforces the Académie's commitment to unite composers and performers, while defending the creation and the enrichment of the chamber music repertoire.
A jury made up of the QUATUOR DIOTIMA and the French composer PASCAL DUSAPIN is gathered around the direction of the Académie to select works written for string quartet (two violins, one viola, one cello). The composers whose works are selected are invited to Aix-en-Provence as part of the Chamber Music Residency. During their stay, they take part in work sessions on their selected score and benefit from artistic and professional exchanges with the performers and mentors of the residency while enjoying an immersion in the heart of the Festival d'Aix.
The selected works will be performed during the 3 concerts of the Chamber Music Residency held on June 27, 28 and 29 as part of Aix en juin (a prelude to the Festival d’Aix) alongside works from the classical and romantic repertoire and quartets by Pascal Dusapin.
The work sessions will be held in French and in English.
