CALL FOR SCORES FOR STRING QUARTETS
Call for scores open to any composer under 32 years old
As part of the Chamber music residency—a program that welcomes the most promising string quartets every year, under the supervision of internationally renowned artists—the Académie du Festival d’Aix is launching, for the first time, a call for scores by young composers. This initiative reinforces the Académie's commitment to unite composers and performers, while defending the creation and the enrichment of the chamber music repertoire.
The composers whose works are selected will be invited to take part in the online residency. Each work will be performed by one of the participating string quartets.
During the residency, the composers will join performers in online work sessions centered around their scores, sometimes in the presence of the team of supervisors. They will benefit from the expertise of the violist GARTH KNOX (a former member of the Arditti Quartet and of the Ensemble Intercontemporain). MARK WITHERS, head of LSO Discovery, and CHRISTIANE LOUIS, head of professional resources at the Philharmonie de Paris, will also lead work sessions providing the participants with career advice and tips for creating during times of crisis.
